California/Nevada Championships

Facilities: Warmerdam Field is a 9 lane (42” wide) polyurethane track surface with inside steeplechase water jump and a 100’x50’ D-shaped high jump apron. 2 long/triple jump runways 181’ (39’) and 132’ (30’) and 1 pole vault runway 157’ are located inside the along the homestretch. A second pole vault runway (122’) is located outside the track, just north of the spectator bleachers. All runways run north/south and are designed to accommodate the prevailing wind from the north. The shot circle, javelin runway (165’) and hammer/discus cage are located just north of the High jump with all throwing sectors extending to the north. A second discus ring is located on a grass field northeast of the track.

Practice Times: Warmerdam Field will be open for practice Thursday March 27th from 1-7:30pm. Field times are as follows:

1-2 PM Hammer
2-3 PM Discus
3-4 PM Javelin
4-5 PM Hammer
5-6 PM Discus
6-7 PM Javelin
A coach must be with long throwers during practice times for safety.  

 Coaches/Head Officials-Technical Meeting: Will be Friday March 28 at 8:00 AM in the South Gym Annex Room 130, Team Packets will be available at this meeting. Each school with competing athletes must have a representative at this meeting. A continental breakfast will be provided.

 Implement Weigh-ins: Will be Thursday March 27th 5-7PM  (m- Ham & discus W- Shot) and Implements can be handed in after the technical meeting Friday morning 9-11am FRIDAY MORNING EVENTS MUST BE TURNED IN THURSDAY EVENING to ensure they are weighed in. All implements will be impounded until the final has been concluded for that event.

 Track Access: Athletes, Coaches, and support personnel will use the Northeast Gate to Warmerdam Field. Wrist bands will be used to identify athletes, coaches, and support personnel. The stadium bleachers will be reserved for paid spectators. DO NOT SIT IN THE BLEACHERS UNLESS YOU HAVE PURCHASED A SPECTATOR TICKET.

 Team Village: Each team will be assigned a tent on the east side of the track, Please insure that all athletes reserve the stands for the paying spectators. Intramural grass field located out the Northeast Gate.

 Warm up field: is  located on the northeast field next to the soft ball field, the training tent will be located just in side fence in route to the cleark of the course.

 Clerk of course/Athlete Check in:  is located on the north end of the track. Athletes should report after warm up through the Northeast gate. Hip numbers will be issued at that time and must be worn on the left hip. Field participants will report to the Head Official for that event 45 min prior to the start of the event and will be allowed 30 general warm up, the last 15 minutes will be for the first flight, with each proceeding flight given 15 min for warm up. Athletes in flights not immediately competing will be asked to stay in the general vicinity of the Clerks tent for notification of their flights time. IT IS THE RESPONSIBLITITY OF THE ATHLETES TO STAY INFORMED OF THE PROGRESS OF THEIR EVENT. Sequential flights will be called at the end of the second round of that event.

 Report times:  Running events 15 min prior to start time
                         Throws and Jumps        45 min prior to start time
                         Pole Vault                     90 min prior to start time

 Long Throws: in qualifying for the long throws, Discus, Hammer, Javelin on Friday we will be ‘pegging’ the longest throws, and measuring after the third trial.

 Timing and Results: Will be provided by Don Chadez, information can be found at www.ezmeets.com 

 Scoring: Individual Events: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 Relay Events: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

 Awards: Will be given to the winner in each individual event and top relay Team. However, we would like to recognize the top three in each event.  Award winners are to report immediately to the Victory Stand at the completion of their event.

 Team Parking: Limited parking will be available in Lot “K” on the south side of Barstow Ave.. Team Busses/Vans are requested to drop off athletes on Campus dr. and pull through San Ramon ave(left), right on Jackson ave and then circle around to Barstow and park in lot “Q” on the north side of Barstow Ave. for no charge on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

 Showers: Showers facilities will be available in the Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms located with in the North/South Gym Complex. Lockers and towels will not be available.

 Hospitality Tent: will be available for coaches and officials outside the north curve.

 Team BBQ: There will be a team BBQ on Friday March 28 at 6:00pm at the Hospitality Tent. We will be serving a Tri Tip dinner at the cost of $12.00 per athlete/coach/trainer. The payment for the BBQ will be in addition to the entry fee, but payable at the same time.
