Rules of Competition
: Competition will be governed by the active editions of the NCAA track and cross country rules book, with exception as needed by meet management


Only ¼ (7mm) pyramid or Christmas Tree spikes are allowed in the Tyson Track Complex.  NO PINS
Athletes caught wearing pin spikes or spikes that are too large may be disqualified from competition.

The Tyson Invitational will be open to a very limited number of unattached athletes.

Entry fee will be $25.00   per athlete.

In events that finals are contested (TJ, LJ, Shot, Wt. Throw, 60m, 60mhh,200m)

No unattached athlete will displace a college athlete advancing to the finals.

 

Packet Pick-up

You can pick up your packet on Thursday, February 10 at the Randal Tyson Track Center between 5-6 PM on Thursday or on Friday morning beginning at

9:00 AM.

Bib numbers should be worn on front of jersey. Wristbands must be worn at all times and will serve as entry passes to the all sections of the Tyson Invitational.

 

 

Heat sheets will be available Friday morning after all last minute scratches have been taken.

 

Practice:

The Randal Tyson Track Center will be open for practice 5:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, February 9th and 8:00AM until one hour before the start the start of competition on Friday, February 10th.

Walker pavilion will be opened for warm up Friday and Saturday.

 

Warm-Ups:

All warm-ups are to be done at the Walker Pavilion or outside.  The ‘green-room’ warm-up facility at the Randal Tyson Track Center will only be available to athletes 20 minutes prior to their event and may only be used for strides, starts, and build-ups.  There will be NO JOGGING allowed in the green room.  The oval around the competitor track may not be used for warm-ups during the meet.

Shuttles will be running from Walker Pavilion to the Tyson Track Complex.

 

Showers:

Showers are available at the Randal Tyson Track Center.  Towels and lockers are not furnished.  You are responsible for your own valuables.

 

Awards:

Awards will be given to the top 3 places in each event.

 

Entry fee:

Entry fee will be $300.00 per team per gender.

         

         

 

Facility:        The track is 200 meter banked Mondo track.  The lanes are 42” wide. The horizontal jumps are contested on two pits. The men’s runway is 55 meters long and the women’s runway is 41 meters long.  The track itself is a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track that has 60m straight-aways running the entire length of the facility. The surface of the track is red and gray Mondo.

With all of the big name events that are held in the facility, the Tyson Track Center was built to handle the demands for the many media outlets. The press box is two-tiered offering 50 seats and has an announcer’s booth, timing and scoring area and a camera position that can be used as a television announcer’s booth.

There are four elevated camera positions located around the track. A media room is also available in the north concourse.

Lanes:         For seeding purposes, lane priorities will be:

In the 200m and 400m the order of priority will be: 5, 6, and 4,3,2,1

In the straightaway, lane priority will be 4, 5,3,6,2,7,1,8
